Iwate Salmon

Iwate Prefecture ranks second in the annual salmon catches in Japan. There are more than 40 salmon hatcheries in the prefecture distributed along the coast as well as along the Kitakami River, which runs through the inland areas, and its branches to release a huge number of juvenile salmon every year.
